Windows Phone market share plummets

Total sales of handsets with the Windows Phone operating system in quarter one of 2016 were 2.4 million units, making up 0.7 percent of the market according to figures from Gartner.

That could see the end of the Lumia brand, which Microsoft bought from Nokia a few years back. It must be said that the company hasn't released a new handset recently which obviously have an impact on the ability to sell units.

Rumours abound that Microsoft is planning to introduce another line of smartphone with the Surface branding in 2017 which could represent a new vision and essentially a reboot of their mobile business. We're going to have to wait and see how that turns out.
