OnePlus 3 will launch on a VR space station!
OnePlus' Carl Pei has announced on the forums that the launch for the OnePlus 3 is going to take place on a virtual space station called The Loop. It's an imagined future of the OnePlus offices, that you'll be able to look around in while the new handset is unveiled for the first time.
And the company wants you to be comfortable doing it, so they're offering free virtual reality headsets called Loop VR as well.
30,000 units were made available free (+ shipping) and they've naturally all sold out already. Of course you'll be able to interact with the experience using any VR headset whenever the event actually takes place, which hasn't been confirmed yet.
OnePlus has really grown over the last few years and it's still young and nimble enough to be able to really embrace VR. They're making the experience even more unique by offering people the chance to be the first in the world to buy a OnePlus 3 right in the VR world.
Now it remains to be seen how that actually works in reality, the company has certainly had technical glitches before, but it's bound to drum up a lot of attention for this new device.
The OnePlus 3 is launching some time in summer 2016.
