The City of Cork often gets overshadowed by the county when it comes to subjects in paintings as artists gravitate towards rural scenes. So the Lavit Gallery asked 13 artists to respond to the subject of Cork City.
The resulting exhibition includes artists Don Anderson, Emer Kelly, and Edward Yen Sang.
The exhibition runs until June 7 and features work like this one, From Patrick’s Hill to Patrick’s Street, oil on board, 40x51cm, €850, by Anastasia O’Donoghue Healy.

Internationally renowned silversmith, Cara Murphy, has created this glorious piece called Salt and Pepper, made from sterling silver and stone.

Cork artist Diana Skalkos studied ceramics, sculpture, and design at Kensington and Chelsea college and Westminster University, London. We love her colourful tiles — they are hand rolled and cut from wet clay referencing ancient Greek techniques.
Each one is hand painted with glaze and refired up to five times to achieve the depth of colour. Tiles are €38, available from Cork Craft and Design Shop, Douglas, The Lavit Gallery or from Diana on 087 9110673.
