Safefood is urging parents to redouble their efforts to reduce unhealthy treat foods in their children’s diets and has created a number of resources with advice on changing habits which are available at www.safefood.eu.

Research published last week indicated that more than 40% of parents give their children treats like crisps, chocolate and sweets at least once a day.
Among the parents surveyed, the most popular ways to cut back on treats were weekends only (30%); buying smaller-sized treats (23%), and restricting treats to every other day (23%).
