Castle TV show also cancelled

Castle is to be closed, sold off and demolished in spectacular fashion.

The long running procedural starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic is just about to finish its eigth season in the US and the ABC network has chosen not to pursue more episodes.

It's not a huge surprise for fans after it was confirmed that Katic would not be returning after this season finale. That was said to be a budgetary issue but the negative fan reaction no doubt contributed to this decision.

With the final episode ever now looming it appears that the network had planned for the possibility, with one ending that would have looked forward to season 9 and another that would bring the series to its conclusion.

Viewer ratings had been consistently high across the first number of seasons from the shows debut in 2009 but have recently taken a nose dive. It's a shame to see another Fillion show cancelled after the wonderful Firefly but at least he had good innings here.
