The Nokia name is to return to smartphones

A new company, HMD, has been founded with the purpose of putting the Nokia name back on smartphones and tablets.

HMD has signed a licensing agreement with the Nokia Corporation and agreed with Microsoft to use the Nokia trademark on feature phones for the next ten years.

The company has revealed that its Nokia-branded smartphones and tablets will run on Android.

Microsoft has also given HMD the go-ahead for its design language to be used, so we may see some familiar Lumia styling on these handsets.
