American Harry Potter house names revealed

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is all kinds of exciting for Harry Potter fans.

American Harry Potter house names revealed

Not only will they get a look at a world which isn't covered in the books in the early 1920s but it also takes place in the United States for the first time.

That means setting up a whole new level of backstory and mythology, and it seems it will also include a new set of wizarding schools.

New information on that element has just been leaked in an unlikely place - via a post on Linkedin by a software engineer called Ian Cervantez. He was poking around in the code for the Pottermore site when he came upon a reference to the names of four new wizarding houses:

Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird and Pukwudgie

It seems these houses belong to a new American school called Ilvermorny, and they will likely be a part of the upcoming movie.

Fantastic Beasts is being written for the screen by J.K. Rowling herself so she can pretty much do whatever she wants with the world she has created. There will doubtless be plenty of reveals in the coming months for this new take on the world of Harry Potter.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is in cinemas in November, 2016
