The new Han Solo has been chosen - no pressure so

In case you somehow missed it, there's a standalone Han Solo movie in the works, which is all about his younger years.

And even though we're sure that Harrison Ford could pull it off with some special effects wizardry, a new fella has been cast in the role.

So your other Han Solo is now Alden Ehrenreich.

If you recognise the name it's most likely from his recent turn in the Coen's Hail, Caesar! - and this genuinely funny scene. He's the one on the left.

Ehrenreich emerged as the frontrunner in the race over the last few weeks, in a pack which originally included the likes of Miles Teller and Irish lad Jack Reynor.

It's said that he is currently firming up the deal which will no doubt lock him in for a potential franchise, should the film perform well.

Reports suggest that Han will already be buddies with Chewbacca in this new film. It's not set to debut until the middle of 2018 so this early casting suggests that we might see the actor pop up in another tale before then. Though wouldn't he too young for Rogue One?
