Her family set up the Emer Casey Foundation soon after in her memory, with an aim to spread awareness and fund research of ovarian cancer.

Through fundraising, the charity has purchased two ultrasound scanners, used for early detection of ovarian cancer, and will present these to St James Hospital, Dublin on May 9.

Ahead of World Ovarian Cancer Day on May 8, journalist Elaine Murphy has shared a documentary she filmed with Emer's family discussing her life and the work they have done through the foundation in the decade since she sadly passed away.
