A kid hacked Instagram and earned 10 grand

A 10 year old kid from Finland managed to figure out a way to delete user comments from Instagram, and his work was rewarded with $10,000.

The boy's name is Jani and he demonstrated the security flaw to Instagram using a test account and was given the money as part of the bug bounty system run by Facebook.

This allows them to give hackers an incentive to get in touch with the exploits they find over the years, and the company has given out more than 200 such rewards over the last few years.

Jani was interviewed by Finnish website Iltalehti and said that "- I would have been able to eliminate anyone, even Justin Bieber." That's directly from Google Translate, but we like the way he's thinking.
