Agent Carter may be finished

Marvel's Agents of Shield may get more attention but for our money Agent Carter is the better show.

Not only does it have a rich period setting and serves up a glimpse at the steps which went into setting up Shield in the first place, it also has a tremendous leading lady in Hayley Atwell and a neater focus than some of the sprawling Marvel-verse.

The second season has just finished up and again has scored high marks with critics, and gained some new energy thanks to a move from New York to Hollywood. User ratings are high too, but that hasn't quite translated to actual viewing figures over the years.

Now leading lady Atwell has secured a part in ABC's Conviction which is likely to get a full series order, with The Hollywood Reporter suggesting that Agent Carter will likely fall by the wayside.

That's unfortunate news for fans and for the industry in general as Marvel continues to poorly serve it's female characters. It took Netflix to give Jessica Jones a full series while the theatrical features are going to wait until Captain Marvel in 2019 before we finally get to see a full on female led film.
