Wait until you see what Aer Lingus are ‘naming’ one of their planes

Yesterday we received the disappointing news that a new British polar research ship may not be called Boaty McBoatface after all.

Wait until you see what Aer Lingus are ‘naming’ one of their planes

Despite winning an online poll by a massive majority, gaining 124,109 votes in the process, British Science Minister Jo Johnson said that all the names will be "reviewed" after some "very imaginative" suggestions by the public.

Never one to miss a trick, the social media team at Aer Lingus came up with a beauty last night on their Twitter account.

They posted a tweet entitled "Fleet goals" containing a picture of one of their A330-200 planes with a, shall we say, rather apt new name.

Planey McPlaneface!

Now, we know they are just having a bit of fun, but given the weight of public support for the new name they may have to seriously consider a change.

Well played Aer Lingus, well played.
