Microsoft Surface phones could launch next year
Microsoft has been working on its smartphone lineup in recent years, acquiring the Lumia brand from Nokia and building to the launch of Windows 10 and the growth of an integrated platform. The latest rumour is that they'll also be working on a range of Microsoft Surface phones, and that they could arrive by 2017.
A company insider has said that three models are planned and they won't be available until at least next year. Given the profile of the MS Surface tablet range it makes sense to extend the branding into smartphones, especially as they're already established as premium items in that space. The phones will target regular consumers, business customers and enthusiasts, with different specs and pricing for each category.
