PlayStation builds custom controller for gamer with cerebral palsy

Peter Byrne has cerebral palsy, but also enjoys playing video games. He contacted Sony to inform them that the DualShock 4’s touch pad causes issues as his hand rests upon it, which causes his game to pause and menus to pop up.

PlayStation’s Alex Nawabi, who works on the research and development team, took responsibility for coming up with a solution. He put in around 10 hours of work, creating a controller that disabled the touch pad, but added a pause button at the bottom.

Byrne received a letter from Nawabi shortly after his initial contact. "Inside was the letter and this controller that is now modified especially for me,” he said.
