At Irish cinemas April 8th

There's a prequel to The Huntsman out this week, minus a leading character, but the one we're most excited for is a crazy looking action film which all takes place from first person.

The Huntsman: Winter's War

So Kristen Stewart is out for this prequel/sequel to the 2012 original, this time focussing on the life of Chris Hemsworth's beefy Huntsman and his tussle with an ice queen played by Emily Blunt. The fantasy also starts Jessica Chastain and a returning Charlize Theron as well as some very pretty images and weird looking creatures.

Hardcore Henry

Previously known as Hardcore this crowd funded action film was shot with special cameras and all unfolds through the eyes of its voiceless protagonist. And it looks like the most of the top, kick ass action film which has ever been created by the hand of man. Sharlto Copley is wandering around in it amid all the ridiculous stuff and explosions.

Midnight Special

Jeff Nichols, the director of Mud and Take Shelter, pays homage to the sci-fi of the 80s with this picture, which owes more than passing nod to John Carpenter's Starman. It's about a boy with mysterious powers and the father who will do anything to keep him safe. Starring Michael Shannon and Joel Edgerton, it's a film that's well worth seeking out.

My Name is Emily

This road trip drama about a girl looking for her long lost father looks like a charming tale, and it's all the more impressive because it was written and directed by Simon Fitzmaurice, an award winning artist who suffers from Motor Neuron Disease and worked on the film tirelessly from a specially adapted wheelchair.

The Man Who Knew Infinity

This drama follows the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan, an Indian mathematician who contributed massively to the field in the early 20th century. It's based on the 1991 book of the same name and stars Dev Patel in the lead role as well as Jeremy Irons, Stephen Fry and Toby Jones.
