Watch new video of Italia '90 fever taking over Arklow

Widely acknowledged as the finest hour for Irish soccer, the 1990 World Cup in Italy saw the Republic of Ireland make a magic run to the quarter-finals - despite not even winning a match in normal time.
Jack Charlton side’s victory over Romania on penalties in Genoa saw an unparalleled wave of euphoria sweep the nation and Arklow, Co Wicklow was no different.
This week a fantastic video of Italia ’90 celebrations (it’s not known after which game) in the town was uploaded to YouTube by Paud O’Keeffe after it was shot at the time by Peter Dempsey.
In the 10 minute clip we are treated to all the classics like ’Olé, Olé, Olé’, ’Come On You Boys In Green’ and ’Jackie’s Army’, there’s crazy hats and even some rather forthright views on a current Eamon Dunphy.
Utter madness!
Hopefully our Boys In Green can replicate scenes like this in June.
If you want to relive Ireland’s emotional journey during Italia ’90 there is a great documentary below.
