By now pretty much everyone has seen Star Wars The Force Awakens and realised it was an amazing film which was a testament to the original trilogy as much as it was in forging its own story.

Video shows how 'The Force Awakens' was a tribute to the original Star Wars trilogy

The video below is the work of Jorge Luengo Ruiz, a Spanish filmmaker who cut scenes from Star Wars movies of old and TFA and gave us a side by side view of how similar in many scenes that they were.

Mostly comprising of scenes from A New Hope (it pains us to write that), the film was his way of showing how TFA honored the movies that everyone loved.

In an interview with Buzzfeed he said 'he’d been surprised by the way Abrams’ film not only paid homage to the plot of Episode IV in the saga, but had put in visual homages to other elements of the series'.

While there are many out there to suggest that TFA is a carbon copy of the first movie, there are many like Jorge Luengo Ruiz who believe it was a tribute to the brilliance of Star Wars as well as a great starting point for new story lines.
