British TV presenter Richard Osman is currently hosting the World Cup Of Crisps on Twitter to find out what the best packet of crisps is and Group 4 caught the attention of Irish people everywhere for one specific reason.

ROUND 1 - GROUP 4 of 12
Top 2 qualify for round 2. Voting starts now! #wcocr2016
Tayto Cheese and Onion crisps were drawn in a group consisting of Chipsticks, Walkers Smoky Bacon and Space Raiders Pickled Onion crisps, with the top two crisps going on to the next round.
With voting open to the public, Tayto didn’t get off to a good start.
Tayto is getting hammered by rubbish here. A travesty. https://t.co/iiMvF6US78— Dara Ó Briain (@daraobriain) March 26, 2016
But Ireland’s favourite crisps rallied thanks to a noble call from Mr Tayto himself.
Do it for the dead rebels. Vote Tayto in the World Cup Of Crisps. https://t.co/BWJBFPIc2O— Colm Tobin (@colmtobin) March 26, 2016
@MrTaytoIreland @BetonRyaner For God's sake people, vote early, vote often!— Maïa Dunphy (@MaiaDunphy) March 26, 2016
Chipsticks claimed pole position, but had Tayto done enough to catch Walkers? As voting closed Tayto had gone from 19% of the vote to to 26%, pulling level with Walkers, and forcing a tie break.
And once again Twitter came alive in the hunt for qualification.
VOTE TAYTO. NATIONAL PRIDE AT STAKE. https://t.co/ZmYxi1CRnr— 🥃Donald Clarke📽 (@DonaldClarke63) March 26, 2016
But sadly it wasn’t to be as Tayto suffered shootout heartache at the death, missing out by two per cent of the vote.
Tie-break time for group 4. A 10 minute shootout between the tied crisps. Most votes will qualify for the next round— Richard Osman (@richardosman) March 26, 2016
This feels worse than that time Thierry Henry punched the ball into our goal. https://t.co/kby25FEdn5— Jarlath Regan (@Jarlath) March 26, 2016
A valiant effort, but a sad day for Tayto.
