This Islamophobic graffiti appeared in Dublin and was very quickly shunned

Following the terror attacks in Brussels this week that left at least 32 dead and 270 injured – attacks that Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for – a message reading “All Muslims are scum” appeared on a Dublin street.

Very quickly though, that message was changed to something a little less Islamophobic.

It now says “All Muslims are sound”.

Obviously this message is not intended literally. The events in Paris and Brussels show that some Muslims are not, in fact, “sound” – but guess what? No one group of humans is.

The message is instead a good-natured, nice gesture, showing that the majority of people refuse to hold an entire religion responsible for the heinous crimes of a few – a few that usually don’t actually know muchabout the religion they profess to be defending.

After attacks like Brussels, hate crimes usually rise, so a simple act like this can go a long way to helping people feel safe on the streets.
