Mr. Robot Season 2 will feature own slant on Apple-FBI legal battle

This time around, art really is imitating life. The second season of Mr. Robot will have plot points taken from ongoing news headlines in the world of technology.

Mr. Robot looked at the issue of cybersecurity last season and will be just as topical this time around, according to creator Sam Esmail who spoke at a panel at South by Southwest. Mr. Robot will, for example, have its own take on the ongoing battle between Apple and the FBI over encryption. Esmail says that he wrote the episodes before that legal fight was made public.

"I'm not trying to say I'm a fortune-teller," he explained at the event. "We were really going thematically into encryption and privacy, and this whole thing with Apple and Tim Cook happened."
