Pet experts Pedigree and Whiskas have teamed up to host ‘Pawsitivity in the City’; a free, fun-filled family pet event taking place this weekend in Merrion Square (today 12pm-4pm, Sunday 12pm-4pm).

There will be a Doggy Disco for pets, a pop-up Doggy Café, complimentary wet and dry snacks for your pets, as well as snacks and beverages for their human handlers.

J’Adore le francais

The 27th Cork French Film Festival continues this weekend with a programme bursting with vitality from a host of dynamic young French Filmmakers.

The six shorts programme is on at 4.30pm today at The Gate Cinema and 11am tomorrow, with topics ranging from skateborders to Paleolithic jungles.

The film, The Measure of a Man, is on at 9pm tomorrow which explores the moral conflict involved in accepting a job. www.corkfrenchfilmfestival.com

Parade Day

Cork is marking our national holiday with a four-day family event running from Thursday to Sunday, pledging a kaleidoscope of colour and pageantry.

The parade starts at 1pm at the South Mall and the theme will be 1916 -The Legacy.

As well as the usual mime artists, jugglers and magicians from around the world wandering the streets there will be live music on the stage at Grand Parade, plus creative workshops in Bishop Lucey Park, a local food and crafts market on Grand Parade, and a traditional commemorative music concert on St Patrick’s night.

Tailor Made

The Dublin Theatre Company will perform The Tailor and Ansty at Fota House on Friday and Saturday at 8pm.

The book was published in 1942 and promptly banned on the grounds of alleged indecency and obscenity.

Screen Magic

A rescreening of Ryan’s Daughter will open the 10th Dingle International Film Festival on Thursday. A mixture of paid and free events take place over the four-day festival. www.dinglefilmfestival.com
