Entertainment roundup: Flats are a happy new low for Victoria Beckham

VICTORIA BECKHAM wants to wear something more “simple and comfortable”.

Entertainment roundup: Flats are a happy new low for Victoria Beckham

In an interview with The Telegraph, she said: “I think people saw the real me when I came out in a pair of men’s trousers, a roll-neck and trainers. I just can’t do heels any more. At least not when I’m working, [and] I travel a lot. Clothes have to be simple and comfortable.”

The 41-year-old has increasingly been spotted in flats. In 2009, she told Allure magazine: “I beyond hate ballerina flats. I can’t even walk in them. Unless they’re on a ballet dancer doing ballet, I just don’t get it. I love heels.” She has reportedly had bunion surgery after years of wearing heels.

SIMON COWELL has donated £25,000 to a toddler battling cancer. The X Factor judge made the donation during a surprise phone call to mum, Kat Musgrove, 27, after seeing the plight of her three-year-old son, Kian. Kian, who is suffering for a second time from a childhood cancer, called neuroblastoma, needs £555,000 for immunotherapy treatment, with an antibody called 3F8, in the US, and to take part in a vaccine trial.

Cowell is also paying for the flights for Kian, and his family, to the US. Musgrove told Chronicle Live that she received the call while at her son’s bedside, at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, on Wednesday. “I can’t believe it. I have tears streaming down my face. He just called up and said he wanted to help and said he would drop £25,000 into our fundraising account.

“I’m still trying to get my head around it all. He was so nice and kind and just said he wanted to do something to help,” she said.

CHRIS ROCK will be hosting the Oscars for the first time in a decade — but he has paid homage to a more recent host, ELLEN DEGENERES.

DeGeneres was popular in 2014, when she hosted the show for the second time, with antics including taking a massive A-list selfie and ordering pizza for the audience.

Speaking to Hollywood Insider, Rock joked: “And let’s not get it twisted: I’m only here because Ellen said no.” He will host the 88th Academy Awards on Sunday, in Los Angeles.

Since the nominations were announced in January and the #OscarSoWhite diversity row began, Chris has stepped into the debate, calling the Oscars the “white BET Awards” (a US awards show established by Black Entertainment Television).

His tweet followed the nomination of only white actors and actresses, for the second year in a row.

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR has officially signed on to reprise her role as Kathryn Merteuil, in a Cruel Intentions sequel for TV.

The show will be a follow-up to the 1999 movie, which also starred REESE WITHERSPOON and RYAN PHILLIPPE, and Michelle Gellar shared a picture on Instagram of her with director, ROGER KUMBLE, and executive producer, NEAL MORITZ.

She captioned it: “This picture was taken on the eve of production on the original #cruelintentions. Its me #rogerkumble (director) and #nealmoritz (exec producer) and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new #cruelintentions.

“That’s right “everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way” #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv.”
