Look out for Lollipop Day volunteers who are raising awareness of oesophageal cancer and funds by selling lollipops today and tomorrow.

Ireland has one of the highest rates of oesophageal cancer in Europe and the Dublin Gospel Choir will perform outside Debenhams in Henry St today and Dunnes, Grafton St tomorrow at lunchtime, in aid of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund.

You can buy a lollipop or pin (both €2) from volunteers or pharmacies nationwide.

FANTASTIC FLICKS:

This year’s Audi Dublin International Film Festival, which continues until Sunday, includes Fantastic Flicks, a new programme for younger audiences, which was launched by Art Wrixon, 8, and Amalia Godley, 7.

Disney’s latest animated feature Zootropolis, which will be in cinemas for Easter, will conclude the programme at the Savoy Cinema at 2pm on Sunday.

Tomorrow, Ant Boy, the story of Pelle, who is bitten by a scientifically-enhanced ant and uses his new powers to fight supervillains, will be screened at the Light House Cinema Smithfield at 11am, with the sequel at the same venue on Sunday. For more information and booking visit www.diff.ie

STORY TIME:

Over the last 19 years World Book Day, celebrated this year on March 3, has become Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of reading.

As well as events in bookshops, libraries, and schools, school children are entitled to receive a World Book Day €1.50 book token.

The token, valid until March 27, can be exchanged for one of 11 World Book Day books, including one exclusive to Ireland, Brian Gallagher’s One Good Turn, set during the 1916 Rising.
