Thousands pledge to party at the Spire if Leonardo DiCaprio wins an Oscar on Sunday

After years of disappointment, everyone’s excited (and perhaps getting a little ahead of themselves) for Leo to maybe – finally – win a trophy on Sunday night at the 87th Academy Awards.

He’s up for Best Actor for The Revenant.

And you may think you’d have to be a pretty die-hard Leo fan to be there…but an impressive amount of people have clicked “attending” on the event (more than 7,000).

Some 14,000 people have said they’re “interested” in going.

Comments on the event include “my entire life has led up to this”. Amazing.

On the description of the event on Facebook, it says: “In conjunction with other events that will be taking place in Barcelona and Madrid, we decided to host a national gathering in Dublin and show our support for Leo. Spread the word and make this go viral. C’mon, let’s go crazy together!

“Celebrate the impossible!”

Even the Leicester Square Odeon cinema in London has changed its name to Leodeon (fo’ real).

Oh, and they’ve also used the hashtags #UnitedforLeo and #OscarforLeo. Let’s just take a second to think how depressed everyone is going to be next Monday if – dare we even say it – Leo doesn’t win…
