This orphaned baby sloth is best friends with a teddy bear

A baby sloth is growing up with a zookeeper and a cuddly teddy bear for parents after its mother could no longer care for it.

The baby orphan is affectionately called ’Edward Scissorhands’ by the staff because of his big claw hands.

The adorable animal is just seven-weeks-old and has to be bottle fed every three hours.

Without his mother to cuddle, his zookeeper, Kelly-Anne Kelleher has substituted cuddly teddy sloths from the Zoo gift shop for the little sloth to snuggle up to.

The teddy is hung up, a few metres from the ground so the Edward has to use his muscles to move around and hang on, like he would with his real mother.
