A pair of cast iron garden urns, which might come in handy when the rain stops, are the top lot at Woodward’s sale in Cork next Wednesday at 6pm.

The grapevine urns are estimated at €3,000-€4,000. The estimate on a pair of gilt marble console tables is €1,500-€2,500.

Other lots include a Regency walnut games-work table (€1,000-€1,500), a pair of French gilt console tables with mirrors (€1,800-€2,200), eight Chippendale style dining chairs (€800-€1,200), a large bronzed horse (€1,000-€2,000) and an Edwardian inlaid chest on chest (€700-€900).

Viewing is from noon to 5pm today, 2pm to 5pm tomorrow and from 10am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, prime furniture at Hegarty’s auction in Bandon on Sunday week, (January 31) at 3pm will include a satinwood cylinder top library desk from Maples and Co, (€3,000-€5,000) and an Irish Regency secretaire (€2,500-€3,500).

There is an Edwards and Roberts inlaid serpentine display cabinet, a group of finely carved Bavarian hall furniture, an 18th century Irish wine table, an Irish William IV card table, a George II pier mirror and a harp-shaped 19th century over mantle. This auction will include items previously in the Coolmaine Castle collection.

There are gilt wood and over mantle mirrors, occasional furniture, a French clock set, garden furniture, 30 lots of Irish and European art and about 50 lots of Irish and English silver and collectibles.

Viewing is from noon to 5pm next Friday and Saturday and from noon to the start of the sale at 3pm on January 31.
