Simply Nigella: Christmas Special, BBC2, Monday, December 14, 8pm

Nigella shares her fool-proof guide to stress-free festive cooking and entertaining.

Inspired by the sparkling Christmas lights in Kansas City USA, she’ll introduce us to the local, home-spun food that has inspired some of this year’s favourite festive recipes.

Baz: The Lost Muslim, RTÉ2, Tuesday, December 15, 10pm

Leaving his mammy at home, extreme adventurer Baz Ashmawy embarks on a personal odyssey as he turns to Ireland and abroad in search of his Muslim heritage.

Given this year’s horrific events in Paris, Tunisia, Syria and Iraq, it seemed an unlikely route to take. Even so, Baz needs to work out who he is, and who he wants to be.

Rachel’s Coastal Cooking at Christmas, RTÉ One, Wednesday, December 16, 7.30pm

Rachel travels to Roaringwater Bay to meet Helena Hickey and her geese. Then she prepares roast goose with a traditional potato and apple stuffing.

Then there’s the chocolate and pear tart, pictured, before saying cheers with Justin Green and his whey gin.

Reconnected: Reality Bites, RTÉ2, Thursday, December 17, 10pm

One year on, we reconnect with the six women who filmed every aspect of their own lives for nine months on the widely discussed RTÉ2 series Connected. In this special episode, the women reflect on the series, how it changed them, how it impacted on their lives and how they’ve moved on since it was first broadcast.
