One woman dressed up as a Syrian refugee for Halloween and people aren't happy about it
One woman has sparked outrage after she dressed as a Syrian refugee for Halloween.
She even has a prop refugee baby in a sling.
Images started circulating on social media showing an image and a video, originally posted by a woman, who posted the image on her Instagram page. The original post was captioned “perks of having saudi raised besties ;)” and included hashtags #jesuslovestherefugees and #weloveourrefugeefriends.
The woman – believed to be called Abigail – has since apologised for her costume, saying that she wasn’t poking fun at the migrant crisis.
Despite appearing to lend support to the refugee crisis, many people on social media have been outraged by the costume.
She'll never have to deal with the hardships a Syrian refugee has to. It's just a costume that she can take off. Smh pic.twitter.com/2pZhCmYjze

Twitter user Mohamed Sahraoui posted screenshots he claimed to be a conversation with the woman in question, including an explanation of her questionable choice in costume.
She said: “I’d like to apologise, as I am now aware that people saw this very differently as I intended it. I work and volunteer with refugees, and some of my closest friends are refugees. I wanted to dress as people I very much respect and admire.
“In no way would I ever want to make light of their situation and in no way was I attempting to be funny. I more wanted to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with them. I understand that it came across wrong to many who do not know me, and for that, I am sorry.
“I have removed what I can from online and I wouldn’t dress as this again after seeing the misunderstandings and miscommunications made.”
