With everything from the Mad Men wardrobe to Cher’s mini skirt, John Belushi’s Ray Bans from The Blue Brothers and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costume, the Golden Closet Costumes sale by Julien’s Auctions in Hollywood on November 20 will draw worldwide interest.
The Hollywood sale will draw from the rich history of a family renowned for providing costumes for films and TV.
Highlights include Rudolf Valentino’s Blood and Sand suit of lights ($40,000-60,000), Charlton Heston’s head piece from The Ten Commandments ($20,000-40,000), Orson Well’s Citizen Kane suit ($20,000-30,000) and Brad Pitt’s Legend of the Fall pants ($800-1,200).
The original Terminator prop Longslide handgun used by Arnold Schwarzenegger is estimated at $10,000-20,000.
The most expensively estimated lot, at $400,000-600,000, is a 1924 Harold Lloyd Silver Ghost Rolls Royce driven by the chauffeur in the 1955 film Sabrina and the Comic starring Humphrey Bogard and Audrey Hepburn.
Other pieces include Patrick Swayze’s To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar costume ($6,000-8,000), Julie Andrews’ Victor Victoria jacket ($1,000-2,000), Mike Myer’s Austin Powers’ Goldmember suit ($6,000-8,000), Ben Affleck’s Pearl Harbour uniform ($800-1,200) as well as a Sharon Stone Casino coat and bodysuit ($8,000-10,000).
The sale will be held over two sessions at Julien’s Auctions on Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, California on November 20.
