MOISTURISE DAILY: One third of children under the age of six in Ireland suffer from dry skin and one in five suffer from eczema, according to research by skincare brand, La Roche-Posay.

Varying weather conditions are the most common cause of flare-ups, followed by detergents, while certain foods such as eggs or dairy products, are also associated with severely dry skin, particularly in babies. Consultant Dermatologist Dr Emma Wedgeworth, says following a skincare routine is hugely important in managing dry skin: “Moisturising daily with a non-fragranced, carefully chosen, emollient moisturiser will prevent dry skin from getting worse and cracking,” says Dr Wedgeworth, who is currently working with La Roche-Posay on their Lipikar range. Lipikar Baume AP+, €13.50, is available from pharmacies; www.laroche-posay.ie
