Antique furniture at Hegarty’s sale in Bandon next Tuesday at 6pm includes an 18th century mahogany tallboy (€2,000-€3,000), a Regency foldover card table (€1,800-€2,500), and an early 19th century Irish tea table (€1,200-€1,800).
The sale is on view from noon to 5pm today and Monday, and from 2pm to 5pm tomorrow, and from noon to the start of the sale on Tuesday.
It has a signed handwritten letter by Terence MacSwiney (€2,000-€4,000). It is a thank you note to Pauline Henley for a wedding present.
While the Band Played On by Arthur Maderson is estimated at €5,000-€6,000. Farmer Joe by Mark O’Neill has a €1,000-€1,500 estimate.
There is a big collection of Irish and English silver including an early 19th century two-handled cup (€800-€1,200).
A pen and ink sketch by Jack B Yeats — ‘This is the way they rode the pony express in Earl’s Court in 1887’ on headed notepaper from 18, Fitzwilliam Sq, Dublin — was found with a book collection.
This collection also includes a complete set of Jane Austen published by Richard Bentley in 1856 (€800-€1,200) and a memoir by Broncho Charlie Miller.
