Hunting, fishing and Turkish rugs in Connemara collection
The auction includes 150 lots from the estate of a Dubai-based training pilot, who retired to Connemara.
Included is about a dozen Turkish rugs, hunting prints, jackets and whips, ‘Hardy’ fishing rods and reels and landing nets. All will be sold without reserve.
Aidan Foley reports he is seeing more newcomers and young people at every auction. “They see the value in it” he said.
“They are buying stuff and painting it, or putting one mahogany piece into a modern room. There is a lot of mixing and matching”. About 500 lots will come under the hammer. A set of 14 oak dining chairs is estimated at just €400-€600.
There is a collection of stripped pine including two dressers, a food cupboard, a coffer and a coffer on stand.
The sale features an Irish long case clock with brass dial, a Victorian two-door bookcase, a Victorian carved oak kitchen dresser, and three wall clocks. It will be on view from 11 am.
