A pair of French- designed polished steel and leather standard lamps and a 19th century Italian faience miniature violin are among the highlights at Sheppard’s first-ever attic sale in Durrow next Tuesday.

The auction of more than 600 lots from the attics, stables and storerooms of important clients offers collectors at all levels a chance to acquire one-of-a-kind treasures.

The lamps, with shades, are estimated at €300-€500, the violin at €220-€300. Other lots include a 19th century Indo Persian bronze chamber candlestick (€150-€250), an oil on canvas by John Bratby entitled Sunflower (€800-€1,200), a pair of designer leather upholstered tub armchairs (€400-€600), a World War 1 British Army equipment box inscribed Major PJ Mulcahy RAMC.
