It took the internet just two hours to save these hugging rescue dogs

Showing two dogs named Kala and Keira, the pic was featured on a Georgia rescue shelter's Facebook page alongside an appeal to help prevent the pair being euthanised.

The desperate plea was written from the two dogs' perspective and, as evidenced by this extract, was highly emotive.

"I'm Kala. This is Keira. We're so scared in here. The people working in the shelters see how scared we are but just told each other that today is our deadline. We have to have someone rescue us or we'll be "next." Keira is black and not a "real boxer," just a mix. She's so brave and tells me it will be okay no matter what happens. She tells me to be brave too but I don't know if I can be."

The two dogs were scheduled to be put down that day if a foster home wasn't found as the shelter didn't have the resources to cope with all the homeless dogs.

And the Facebook post worked - generating thousands of likes, shares and comments. Just two hours and six minutes later, someone stepped in to take both Kala and Keira, effectively saving their lives.
