Nostalgia will be a big factor in sale of old style tractor seats

Des O’Sullivan expects a lot of collector interest in an unusual sale taking place in Castlecomer next week.

Nostalgia is a feature of many auctions. Among the more unusual lots at Fonsie Mealy’s two day sale in Castlecomer next Tuesday and Wednesday is an astonishing collection of old style tractor seats in mint condition.

More than 80 tractor seats from Ireland, England, Scotland and the US are to be sold as individual lots with estimates from €40 up to €300. A scarce Hornsby wooden and metal seat in red, yellow and blue (€200-300) kicks off these lots and an R and F Keane, Cappoquin tractor seat is estimated at €150-200.
