Get thee to a nunnery auction for value

A convent auction nearly always throws up an unusual item or two.

The sale at the Presentation Convent, Turner’s Cross, Cork next Saturday (July 11) by auctioneer Denis Lynes will feature contents from various Presentation Order convents.

Antique furniture, waxed, polished and impeccably maintained, includes a Victorian hall stand and the mirror backed sideboard pictured on these pages last Saturday.

There are antique bookcases, chests of drawers; bentwood chairs; church pews; pine presses and tables; porcelain; glass, garden urns and numerous other items.

All lots are to be sold without reserve. Viewing is at the primary school hall in Turner’s Cross next Friday from 10 am to 8 pm and from 9 am to the start of the sale at 11 am on this day week.
