One Irish woman has experienced both heartbreak and a heartwarming reunion this week.

Janet Gray, a DUP councillor and ski champion, was distraught after her pet dog got loose earlier this week and went missing, but tonight she is celebrating as she has been reunited with her beloved pooch.

Janet spoke on Liveline about the loss she felt without Holli, the toy poodle.

"She’s really, really important to me," she said. Janet got Holli and her twin brother Harvey after she experienced a major skiing accident a number of years ago.

"She means the world to me, they’re just my babies and I don't know what I'll do if I can't get her."

She appealed for help from the public in finding her canine companion.

"If someone could just chase her or entice her into a garden or shed and get the door shut and ring us, we can come pick her up."

Luckily for Janet, her search for Holli has reached a happy conclusion, and the poodle is once again by her side this evening.
