Abundance of fine choices at Sheppards

Fine furniture, Oriental porcelain, carpets and rugs, art, silver, jewellery and collectibles come up in abundance at Sheppards two day sale in Durrow, Co Laois next Tuesday and Wednesday (June 30-July 1).

A c1780 carved gilt wood Chippendale pier mirror is estimated at €8,000-€12,000 while an Arts and Craft silver serving spoon is estimated at €50-€80.

A 19th century card table (€4,000-€6,000), a c1920 handmade Savonnerie carpet (€3,000-€4,000), a pair of diamond cluster earrings (€1,500-€2,000), a Coalbrookedale garden seat (€1,400-€1,800) and an Irish brass bound plate bucket (€2,000-€3,000) give an idea of the breadth of lots on offer.

Lots 1-750 will be sold on Tuesday, lots 751-1,543 come under the hammer on Wednesday. Sales get underway at 10.30 a.m on each day. Viewing is from 10 am to 5 pm today, tomorrow and Monday.
