TABLE TALK

A David Linley dining table is the top lot at Aidan Foley’s summer sale at The Auction Rooms, Sixmilebridge, Co Clare next Tuesday (June 23).

The maple wood table, capable of seating up to 20, was a commissioned piece and will attract international interest.

Over 1,000 lots will be sold including a Limerick silver spoon by Maurice Fitzgerald, antique furniture, jewellery and Waterford Crystal chandeliers.

A George IV breakfront bookcase was the top lot at Adam’s Sunday interiors sale. It made €9,200. A portrait of a lady in a large hat by Charlotte Blakeney Ward sold for €3,200.

MINTING IT

A collection of coins sold in various lots made a total of over €40,000 at Whyte’s Eclectic Collector sale on Saturday.

A collection of historic Irish postcards sold in lots divided into counties and towns made over €22,000.

With 400 bidders registered online from the US, Europe, Australia, China, Japan and the Middlee East the sale grossed €220,000.

HOUSE SALE

More than 580 lots of antiques, art and collectibles will come under the hammer at a house sale at Longacre House, Thormanby Road, Howth at 2 pm tomorrow.

The sale will be conducted by Matthews Auctioneers and is on view today from 11am to 5pm and from 10am Sunday.
