Some fine furniture at Adam’s sale

With estimates from €50 to €22,000, Adams Sunday Interiors auction at 11.30 am in Dublin tomorrow offers everything from fine antique furniture to equestrian portraits and even a 1914 hat box by Louis Vuitton.

An elegant c1775 gentleman’s writing desk by William Vile is the top lot. The estimate is 18,000-22,000. William Vile was among the top London furniture makers of the neo-classical age.

His name has been overshadowed by Thomas Chippendale but he is very much sought after by discriminating collectors.
