’Give us a bit of socialism’: Late Late Show footage of Corkonians discussing Europe in 1989
Over here in Ireland, Cork people were a little sceptical about getting involved before the EU was even formed.
Talk of European integration was dominating the news back in 1989 and ahead of the Maastricht treaty Uncle Gaybo sent a Late Late Show film crew to Cork city to find out what the people were thinking.

Never ones to shirk an opinion, the Leesiders' views were as sharp as you'd imagine.
Jobs, consumer value, industry and poverty were all huge concerns.
However, one women at the end (2:35) stole the show with her opinions on socialism and Maggie Thatcher!
