Actress Laverne Cox will be the first transgender person to have a waxwork of themselves in the famed Madame Tussauds.

The figure will go on display at Madame Tussauds in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf on 26 June, the day before the start of Pride Weekend.

"When I think about being who I am, a black trans woman from a working class background raised in Mobile, Alabama, this honour feels even more improbable and extraordinary," she said. "I hope that this will be a source of inspiration for everyone who encounters it to believe that their dreams matter and are possible."
