Military archives at bank holiday sale
THE June bank holiday Sunday auction at Cork Auction Rooms will feature the military archives of the Hadden family. Originally from England, the family settled in Ireland after the Second World War.
The archive includes military medals, war diaries, scrap books relating to the First and Second World Wars and military paperwork. The antique and collectors auction, which gets underway at noon, features more than 700 lots.
Pub collectibles includings signs, advertising mirrors and copper measures will be sold in various lots. Other collectibles include a Victoria 1887 Golden Jubilee 22 carat gold £5 coin in extra fine condition (€1,200-1.500).
There are furniture bargains at every sale these days and an Edwardian inlaid rosewood lady’s davenport with sliding writing surface is estimated at just €350-450.
Viewing is from 10 am to 6pm today and from 9 am to the start of the sale at noon tomorrow. Cork Auction Rooms is at Ballycurreen Industrial Estate near the Kinsale Road roundabout.
