Furniture set to fetch top prices at stately home contents sale
The three-part table on pillar supports is designed to be used either as a single table or as three stand alone tables. Gillingtons were a Dublin firm of cabinet makers in the early years of the 19th century.
The table is estimated at €25,000.
A pair of George III mahogany dining room pedestals after a design by Gillows were also in the 1963 catalogue. It is rare to come across an intact pair and this lot is estimated at €15,000.
A carved gilt wood side table in the manner of Matthias Locke was originally at Carton and is estimated at €20,000 plus. A pair of gilt wood torcheres in the style of Robert Adam are attributed to del Vecchio of Dublin. They are estimated at €20,000 plus.
The sale of 600 lots features many well-decorated pieces including boulle display cabinets, writing tables, escritoires, gilt wood mirrors and wall sconces with estimates which are much more modest.
There is silver, art, sporting equipment, garden seats among the wide variety of lots. Viewing at the house is from 10am to 5pm on today, Monday and Tuesday and from 11am to 5pm tomorrow.
