Shower of gifts: One American custom gaining in popularity is the baby shower — 52% of Irish parents said they would or have celebrated the impending birth of their child.

However 75% confessed they had re-gifted presents they received for their baby or left them unused, according to the survey undertaken ahead of the Pregnancy and Baby Fair, which will be held in City Hall, Cork, tomorrow and Sunday. Now in its sixth year, around 5,000 visitors are expected to the exhibition which offers advice on the latest pregnancy and baby products. Tickets are €6.50.
