How Twitter reacted to the announcement of a Christmas World Cup final

Despite controversy regarding the voting process involved in the awarding of the 2022 World up finals to Qatar, FIFA has announced the first ever festive World Cup Final.

The game will take place on December 18, 2022. Just seven days before Christmas and right in the middle of the season for many of the top club leagues.

The change from the summer to the winter for football's biggest showpiece is due to concerns over temperatures being too high for players to perform in and fans to enjoy the game in a country which has scorching summers.
