The Aran Islands St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the most Irish thing you’ll ever see

The Aran Islands St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the most Irish thing you’ll ever see

Taking place on Inis Mór (population of around 800), kids, grannies, builders mixing cement, tractors, trad musicians and a lovely horse all travel by on floats with the Atlantic Ocean sparkling in the background.

And while some commenters on Facebook are understandably a bit bemused by the whole thing (and others scathing of the islands' effort), most agreed that the parade definitely has its own charm.

It's funny, surreal and a bit shoddy - which makes it a pretty fitting tribute to our nation and its patron saint.
