One Irish mammy has had one hell of an early Mother’s Day surprise when her son - and baby grandson - flew over from Australia without her knowing.

Irish mammy gets amazing homecoming surprise for Mother’s Day

Matthew Hislop from Whitehall, Santry has been living with his family in Perth for the past few years. Matthew was last home three years ago for his brother's funeral and has not been back to Ireland since. His 13 month old son, Anderson, has never met his granny or touched Irish soil.

The trip was organised by Lidl Ireland who flew Matthew and Anderson back to Ireland and it's safe to say it was a very emotional reunion.

And Matthew's nephew Cian Hislop - who had been collected from school early for the occasion - left a comment under the video on YouTube explaining how much it meant to the entire family:

"The only people that knew that he was coming home was my uncle and father, so when we got up to the house it was literally the happiest feeling I have felt in years?

Isn't that just lovely?
