VIDEO: Community secretly learns sign language to surprise deaf man

Residents of an Istanbul neighbourhood spent months learning sign language just so they could surprise a deaf man.

Muaharrem's sister, Ozlem, organised the project with some help from Samsung - local residents spent months learning the language and cameras were installed around the area.

When the time comes, everyone gets into position. And as Muaharrem goes for a walk with his sister, he begins to notice something a bit strange. People on the street are addressing him through his own language - something that rarely happens.

Understandably, he gets a bit freaked out but when he is told what's happening, he is visibly moved by the fact that people would make an effort to understand what life is like for him.

Ok so, it is an ad but it's still a very moving gesture - and a good watch.
