How to Choose the Best Date Movie This Valentine`s Day
Valentine’s Day is almost here and a trip to the cinema is generally a pretty good idea for a date. But how can you decide whether the movies on release are what you want to see with your date of choice on this day of romance and other fuzzy stuff? Here’s our guide to what’s out this week – think of it as a way to avoid heavy and depressing stuff masquerading as a feel good romance. Check out the list from worst to best!
Sheesh, this is definitely not a date movie. George Clooney conjures up a flick based on the true story of a bunch of dudes who went behind enemy lines during World War II to retake stolen art. People die, depressing things happen and then there are jolly jokes in the middle of horrible acts of war. It’s a weird one, best avoided. Probably the best movie out this week and definitely a love story but certainly not a conventional one. It also spends a lot of time questioning how people are valued in their relationships and deals with a lot of breakups and heartaches – so you’ll have to decide if that’s something you want to experience on Valentines Day! You should still see it though. It’s rather good. Nick Frost prances around the screen, learning salsa on his way to capturing the heart of his very cute boss. Cuban Fury is way better than you might be thinking, with gentle comedy and fun performances from Frost, Chris O’Dowd and Ian McShane. There’s little in the way of swearing or objectionable material and plenty of well-meaning laughs, plus the romance stuff is mostly sidelined. A entertaining safe bet. This may not be heavy on the romance but it’s out pick of the week for light and entertaining fare. The directors of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs craft another hilarious animation with plenty of quips and jokes for young and old alike. It’s bright and fast moving with great use of 3D and a nice message about the awesome creativity of Lego. How to get the best movie to suit you and your date this Valentines Day - don't go see the one about World War II!
